A thorny view of some botanicals in Costa Rica, May 2007

A thorny view of some botanicals in Costa Rica, May 2007

This week is going to be another bottleneck. This morning I have a long task list for getting the proof of EnergyBiz March/April 2009 in a complete PDF to Marty Rosenberg and his two proofreaders by close of business today.

It has been especially challenging because of the two days I took out of the schedule to travel to Denver last week (see my latest blog post here). I also was about four days behind because editorial was delivered two days late and the 30% which was delivered was not entirely workable, as it was bits of components, not the whole components. It is like getting the two-by-fours to begin construction on a house, but not getting the nails. The two-by-fours will sit there unused until the nails are delivered.

Situations like this challenge my most developed time-management skills. In spite of griping like I do, I enjoy the opportunity to further improve in diverse ways. It goes back to my old saying: “Life’s a video game.”

While the EnergyBiz PDF is being proofread, I will finish the cover illustration and check in the ads. Surprisingly, and happily, this issue has seen some healthy advertising sales. This is contrary to the dire news of the current economy and also the state of print media.

This week I also continue a project plan for the documentary I plan to shoot in Tokyo this June about a fusion of Black Gospel and Taiko drums.

I also will begin work on Health Elevations Spring 2009, Intelligent Utility March/April 2009, and I will finish Imaging Notes Winter 2009.
